Vincent Grafhorst was born in the Netherlands, but after his studies (Civil Engineering and Construction Management) in the Netherlands and the UK he moved to South Africa in 1998 in search of some adventure. By chance he ended up in Botswana a year later and never left.
Only in 2005, however, he became serious about his photography and realized that southern Africa with its abundant wildlife and breath-taking scenery is a heaven for nature photographers. His early inspiration came from Frans Lanting, Nigel Dennis, Richard du Toit and, most of all, from… nature itself. Now an award-winning and published nature photographer himself, Vincent, together with his wife Kate, run Wild Scenics, a Botswana based company specializing in African Wildlife and Landscape photography.
Vincent’s work is represented by some of the world’s most renowned agencies for nature photography, Foto Natura & partner Minden Pictures, as well as Afripics on the African market. A selection of his work that is for sale as Limited Edition Fine Art photographic prints are on permanent display in his small gallery in Gaborone, the capital city of Botswana. Further Vincent runs a few photographic safaris each year. These Safaris are unique in their set-up and are focused on the adventurous nature photographer.
